IONM Admission Requirements

A bachelor's degree is required for admission to the certificate program. This graduate certificate program will review and consider applications from a wide variety of educational backgrounds.

However, to help insure success in this certificate training, priority applicants should have had previous academic coursework in at least three of the following areas of study: anatomy, physiology, human biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, psychology, medical terminology, personal health, medical ethics, and applied physics for the health sciences, or similar courses.

To apply for admission to the Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Graduate Certificate, complete the application process below. Applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. Applications will be evaluated upon receipt of all required documentation:

  • Selecting Intraoperative Neuromonitoring as the program name on the online application form.
  • Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Have completed Anatomy & Physiology course within five years with a grade no lower than a “C” prior to admission is preferred).
  • Official transcripts from all external schools attended regardless of whether a degree was received mailed to The Graduate School (see address below).  Official transcripts from students previous educational experience at Bloomsburg University are not required.
  • Successful candidates normally meet the recommended 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
  • Demonstrated English Proficiency (does not apply to native English speakers) as measured by the TOEFL (minimum overall score of 550 for the paper-based test or 79 for the internet-based test) or IELTS (minimum average overall score of at least 6.5).
  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can address the candidate’s potential for success.  For those that have been in the workforce for an extended period of time, these letters may be from professionals, although it is preferable to include at least one academic reference.
  • Current resume or CV.
  • A personal statement that describes your interest in pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring.
  • A non-refundable $35 application fee ($60 international).
  • For the Fall cohert, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until August 1.

After you apply, please send the Office of Graduate Studies your Official Transcript(s) in one envelope to:

International Students Admission

International applicants are welcome to apply. Admitted applicants will be directed to Bloomsburg University International Education Office to request a Form I-20, which is needed to apply for the F-1 student visa, after gaining admission to the program. When requesting the Form I-20, international applicants are required to submit evidence of financial ability to cover all educational and living expenses for the duration of the program.
