>> Pay your $200 Admissions deposit

Paying your deposit officially saves your spot in the Class of 2023. The deposit deadline is May 1.

>> Submit your FAFSA

Early filers usually receive priority consideration for financial aid and scholarships. You can file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as Oct. 1.

>> Apply for scholarships

As an incoming student, you can be considered for two different types of scholarships at BU: merit-based and donor-based. You're automatically considered for merit scholarships by gaining admission. If you'd like to be considered for donor scholarships, be sure to file the Donor Scholarsip Application.

>> Register for housing and select your meal plan

Living on campus? Be sure to submit your MyHousing Application. This is where you can complete the roommate compatibility questionnaire, request special accommodations, a roommate, or a Learning community.

>> Register for your New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation will help you familiarize yourself with the BU campus and culture. Your orientation date is determined by your current major.

>> Complete and submit the health form

All new students are required to complete the online health forms prior to starting classes at BU. Complete the forms by July 1.

>> Join us and your fellow classmates on social media

No need to wait until you get on campus, start connecting with current and fellow incoming Huskies today on our vast social media network.

>> Submit your final official college transcript(s)

All students are required to submit an official final college transcript. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with any questions.

>> Check your BU student email account:

Check it frequently! We will primarily communicate with you through your BU email address. So this is your main source for important dates, deadlines, and activities.


Pre-Move-In Checklist


  • Contact the department chairperson department chairperson for your major to help you build a class schedule. An advisor will be assigned to you by the academic department. In some cases, this is done right away, and for other departments, it may not be assigned until August. You will see an advisor listed under that section of your MyHusky. If an advisor is not listed, contact the department chairperson.
  • Once you have your class schedule, visit our University Bookstore website to price and purchase your textbooks.
  • Review the MyCore program as well as the degree requirements for your major.

Financial Aid/Tuition

  • Review your “To Do” list  in MyHusky and respond in a timely manner to any outstanding items.
  • Review your financial aid awards to determine if you have an outstanding balance. Use out cost worksheet to help you do the math!
  • Complete the Financial Terms and Conditions on your MyHusky account.
  • Check MyHusky account for invoices and balance due.

  • Sign up for payment plan via MyHusky account to make monthly payments if you need to pay your bill over time.
  • Contact our Bursar Office or Financial Aid Office for more information!


  • Create a packing list for your residence hall room. Be sure to look at the list of recommended items, as well as the “no-no” list.
  • Interested in joining a Learning Community? Learn more about your options here.
  • Housing and roommate assignments will be released on July 23rd. Get in touch with your roommate as soon as possible to decide “who will bring what…”
  • New Student move-in will occur Monday, August 19th to Thursday, August 22nd. Move-in times will be dependent upon your residence hall assignment. 
  • Any concerns with new student move-in can be directed to the Office of Residence Life. They can be reached at 570-389-4970.


  • Meet the OWLs! OWL stands for Orientation Workshop Leader, they are upperclassmen that are here to help you in your transition to BU. It is never too early to get in touch with an OWL and ask questions!

  • Lastly, get ready to get involved! Check out our student government and the 250+ organizations and clubs BU has to offer! We have something for everyone, including you!
  • Register your cell phone number for emergency notifications and update your emergency contact info through your MyHusky account. Tip: You can also add a parent’s phone number for emergency notifications.
  • Familiarize yourself with The Pilot, our student code of conduct handbook. You are responsible for knowing our code of conduct.
