About the MAT Exam

The Miller Analogies Test is required for admission by some graduate schools. The MAT is considered a measure of high-level cognitive function and measures an individual's logical and analytical reasoning through the use of partial analogies.

The MAT requires a broad knowledge of Western culture covering science, music, literature, philosophy, mathematics, art, and history. Success on the MAT requires a nuanced and cultivated vocabulary.

MAT Cost

$93.50 payable when registering online with MasterCard or Visa.

ID Requirements

TWO forms of unexpired ID are required for admission.

Primary ID: Government-issued, picture ID with signature containing both your photograph and signature (driver’s license, passport book, state ID card).

Secondary ID: Student ID card, Credit card, or library card.

Estimated Length of Exam Appointment

Plan to arrive at the Testing Center at least 15 minutes before your confirmed test appointment to allow time for the check-in process. The entire appointment, from beginning to end, takes about an hour and a half (1.5 hours).

Registration Information/Test Dates

Exam times are available Monday through Friday. Payment options for registering online are Visa or MasterCard. Upon registration you will receive an email confirmation. Print your confirmation receipt and bring it with you to your test appointment.
