Bloomsburg University (BU) – the fourth largest of the 14 members of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) – invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean, College of Science and Technology.
Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will serve as the chief academic officer of the College of Science and Technology (COST). The Dean will be responsible for the overall operations of the college including coordinating and assessing academic/instructional programs, improving academic excellence in teaching and learning, research and creative work, service and outreach, budgets, accreditation, recruitment and retention, ensuring program compliance, faculty evaluation and resource generation/stewardship. The Dean will be an effective advocate for the College of Science and Technology, both within the university and externally.
The College of Science and Technology (COST) enrolls more than 2,600 students in nine departments and 50 programs offering degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including a doctoral program in clinical audiology. COST also boasts opportunities for technology internships, health care clinical experiences or science research, including undergraduate research opportunities. Its close proximity to a nationally recognized health-care provider, Geisinger Health System, offers opportunities for internships and innovative partnerships. The successful COST Dean candidate will demonstrate a willingness to strategize and pursue creative collaborations and alliances with the private sector that enhance programs and provide broader career and internship opportunities for students.

The new Dean will possess an earned doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the College of Science and Technology and an academic, scholarly record meriting an appointment with tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The new leader will have a demonstrated success in an academic administrative position in higher education, to include: team building and collaboration, transparency in decision making, respect for other opinions and voices, an understanding of shared governance in the academy, and the exercise of creativity, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit in developing and achieving goals.
