Engaging diversity is a great way to get involved. Diversity enriches our lives — whether it's diversity of thought, diversity of activities or diversity of people. Students' lives are enriched as they learn about, experience and discover our campus culture and its diversity.

Center for Diversity and Inclusion

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion promotes a supportive campus climate that fosters the personal and professional growth of students from all backgrounds. With this, the center strives to provide enriching experiences that celebrate different culture and perspectives.

Through various programming efforts and activities, the center offers opportunities for all diverse members of the campus community to become empowered and to thrive at Bloomsburg University.

  • Act 101/EOP — through the Department of Academic Enrichment, provides support and opportunities for success to students traditionally under-represented in higher education.
  • African Student Association — promotes understanding among students from the several countries of Africa on campus and the surrounding community.
  • Black Cultural Society — promotes social, cultural and educational awareness for ethnic studies and administrations.
  • Diversity and Retention — provides support and structure that facilitates student achievement through programming and networking, which increases their academic and social awareness.
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life — with recognized organizations, provides an added student life option for lifetime friendship, service to the community.
  • Frederick Douglass Institute — under the inspiration of Frederick Douglass and other distinguished leaders of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, promotes academic excellence among students and enhance their understanding and appreciation of human diversity.
  • Global Awareness — promotes a campus-wide cross-cultural understanding in hope to find solution for humanities' greatest challenge toward peace.
  • Gospel Choir — provides an atmosphere of friendship and spiritual uplifting, while serving as a tool of student retention as well as recruits new students and encourages positive race relations.
  • HABLAS — improves the Spanish language among its members and helps them to learn more of Spanish cultures so as to provide a better understanding between the U.S. and Spanish speaking countries.
  • LGBTQA Commission - Equality Alliance — committed to making BU a safe and welcoming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered student, faculty, and staff through education, programming, advocacy and public policy.
  • Living and Learning Communities — students who share common academic interests, live together in a residence hall, participate in activities together, and are enrolled in a cluster of related courses.
  • Model United Nations — allows students a chance to maintain a sense of awareness of international issues. Also serves as an educational tool for local high schools and the community.
  • Multicultural Affairs — provides programming and educational services that address specific challenges and issues faced by historically underrepresented individuals and/or groups, including African-American, Asian, Hispanic/Latino/Chicano and indigenous descent, disabled, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender individuals, women and religious groups.
  • Women's Resource Center — offers programs and activities that focus on improving the status of women on this college campus, as well as being deeply committed to partnering with campus and community members to address issues of equity, inclusion, and social justice.
