2021 Update: Bloomsburg University's Campus Child Care Center, which has been closed since March of 2020 due to the pandemic, will remain closed with no plans to reopen. The decision to close the center was made as part of an overall review of programs, offerings, and reorganization of the university.

Bloomsburg University's Campus Child Care Center provides day care and preschool services for children of BU students, faculty, staff, alumni and community children eligible for child center services. Hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., when the university is in session. A service calendar for breaks is available at the center, which is opened year-round.

  • Children served are from ages six months to school age (entered kindergarten)
  • Summer care is available for children immediately following their last day of school

Operating Fees

Please contact the Campus Child Care Center at 570-389-4548 or 570-389-4550 for the current rates. Tuition fees are based on enrollment, not attendance. Payment is non-refundable and required whether or not your child attends. Additional days scheduled cannot be switched. Additional day forms are available.

Terms and Definitions

  • Full-time: 4 or 5 days per week; any number of hours in a day; same days every week
  • Part-time: Part-Time:1 to 3 days per week; any number of hours in a day; same days every week
  • Registration Fee: Students and non-students pay a non-refundable $30 registration fee. The $30 registration fee is charged each time there is an interruption in childcare service.
  • Deposit: A non-refundable one week deposit must be paid at registration by both students and non-students; this deposit is applied to the last tuition payment.
  • Additional Days When space permits, additional days can be scheduled. A two-day notice along with payment is required in advance.
  • Late Fees: $20 charge per child if the child is not picked up by 5 p.m. This must be paid before the child returns to the center.

Student Support Staff and Aides

Minimum requirement is a BU freshman.

Assistant Group Supervisors

Each have 30 credit hours earned from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field or 15 credit hours and 1,250 hours of experience with children, or 2,500 hours of experience with children.

Therefore, the mission of the center concurs with the mission of student life, which is to contribute to an institutional climate conducive to student development. It also provides equal educational opportunity for all persons.
