Live@EDU Upgrade to Office365

Live@EDU Upgrade to Office365

Microsoft required all Live @ EDU schools to upgrade from Live @ EDU to Office365. We implemented this change at Bloomsburg University between June 8th and June 10th, 2013. This mandatory upgrade separated school email accounts from Microsoft Live accounts. See below for more details on how the upgrade affected those who had accounts created before June 8, 2013.

Student email account information

  • The login page now contains separate links for Students and Alumni. If you used to use a different web page address to access your email, it likely no longer works. Please use http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu/ to access your email account. This is the only web page address we've ever given out and has and always will be linked from the BU website.
  • Once you click the Student logon link, you are now directed to the HuskyID Single Sign-On page rather than the Microsoft Live login page you’ve seen previously.
  • Your email address, mailbox contents, webmail login URL (http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu/), mobile device / email software settings, and the fact that you use your HuskyID account credentials to log on all remained unchanged.
  • The default webmail theme changed, the upper left Carver tower logo changed to a Microsoft Office 365 logo, and the SkyDrive link and BU Links at the top are no longer be available while viewing your mailbox.
  • Mailbox quota size increased from 10GB to 25GB.
  • See below for information regarding your SkyDrive, if you wish to still use it.

Alumni email account information

  • The login page now contains separate links for Students and Alumni. If you used to use a different web page address to access your email, it likely no longer works. Please use http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu/ to access your email account. This is the only web page address we've ever given out and has and always will be linked from the BU website.
  • Your mailbox contents and webmail login URL (http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu/) remained unchanged.
  • The default webmail theme changed, the upper left Carver tower logo changed to a Microsoft Office 365 logo, and the SkyDrive link and BU Links at the top are no longer be available while viewing your mailbox.
  • Your username and email address changed from @huskies.bloomu.edu (i.e. abc12345@huskies.bloomu.edu) to @alumni.bloomu.edu (i.e. abc12345@alumni.bloomu.edu), your password remained unchanged, and to log in you need to choose the Alumni logon link.
  • Future email messages addressed to your @huskies.bloomu.edu email address still get delivered to your account.
  • If you access your email anywhere other than through webmail (such as on a mobile device, through Microsoft Outlook software, or through POP/IMAP software like Mozilla Thunderbird), you will need to update your username within the settings to @alumni.bloomu.edu.
  • If you re-enroll with Bloomsburg University in the future, your username and email address will change back to @huskies.bloomu.edu, but future email messages addressed to your @alumni.bloomu.edu email address will still get delivered to your account.
  • Mailbox quota size increased from 10GB to 25GB.
  • See below for information regarding your SkyDrive, if you wish to still use it.

Microsoft Live / SkyDrive information

  • You now have two completely separate accounts:
  1. Your BU email account which will still be accessed at http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu/.
  2. Your personal Microsoft Live account, used to access SkyDrive and Messenger at https://skydrive.live.com/, that is now administered completely by Microsoft. Your Microsoft Live ID continues to be @huskies.bloomu.edu (i.e. abc12345@huskies.bloomu.edu), even if your email username changed to @alumni.bloomu.edu, and your Microsoft Live ID password will remain unchanged.
  • When you change your email account password now, it does not affect your Microsoft Live account’s password and vice versa.
  • Please note that brand new students, first created after June 8, 2013, no longer receive a Microsoft Live account nor a SkyDrive, but they can still choose to sign up for a free personal Microsoft Live account through Microsoft if they wish.
  • You have the option to delete your personal Microsoft Live account through https://account.live.com/ by using the "Close Account" link, but be aware doing so will delete any files you have on your SkyDrive.
