Awards will be made for outstanding submissions.

Abstracts prepared by students (individuals or teams) will be accepted and judged in the following categories:

  • social sciences and humanities
  • natural sciences and engineering
  • biological sciences
  • clinical/translational

All students are invited to give poster presentations. Posters with accompanying two-minute oral discussions will be evaluated on the extent to which they convey the significance of the work, the clarity and quality of the presentation, and the overall quality of the project by a team of judges and awards for best poster presentation in each of the four areas will be presented at the end of the event. The audience will also have the opportunity to vote and award one “Audience Favorite” award.

Prior to the symposium, a team of judges will evaluate all abstracts based on clarity, extent to which they clearly describe all aspects of the project, and the quality of the overall project. One abstract from each of the four categories will be selected as the top abstract in that category and invited to give a 10 minute oral presentation at the symposium. Students have the opportunity to opt in or out of this aspect of the competition during the registration process.

Those selected for the oral presentations will be notified by July 19, 2016.
