Beyond the Classroom


In order to ensure psychology students are fully prepared to enter a highly competitive employment or graduate school setting, the Department of Psychology provides a variety of opportunities to complement students' coursework to include research, internships, teaching assistantships and conferences.

Psychology Association

Psychology Association is a student-run an academic organization for psychology majors and minors to get involved in the psych community by participating in various events, activities and community service projects. The association is also open to people who want to learn more about psychology.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is psychology's honor society and each semester invites the highest ranking psychology majors. Founded in 1929, Psi Chi encourages, stimulates, and maintains excellence in scholarship, and advances the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate level psychology students.

 

Awards and Scholarships


Distinguished Student in Psychology Award

Each year several students are nominated for the Distinguished Student in Psychology Award by department faculty to be selected as the year's top student.

Ellen Barker Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a non-traditional age psychology major. Contact the department secretary to apply.
