Parents and Family Weekend


Friday, Oct. 12

  • 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. — University Store Hours. Check out the sale items throughout the weekend with 20% off clothing and insignia merchandise.
  • 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Sit in on your child’s (or parent’s) classes. Please get the instructor’s permission in advance.
  • 11 a.m. to Midnight. — Games Room at KUB. Free billiards & gaming station for parents & family members. B.U. students and family members may enter a drawing for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the University Store! You do not need to be present to win.
  • 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Registration (KUB Main Lobby). We like to know who’s here. Please stop by and pick up a final schedule and other items, and enter the drawing for University Store gift certificates! Students may register their parents if they wish. Football game tickets may also be purchased at registration. Free balloon sculptures by Lanny Lee.
  • 6:30 p.m. — International Folk Dance (Centennial Hall Dance Studio). All are welcome!
  • 7 p.m. — Program Board Presents Bingo (KUB Multi A & B). B.U. students and all of their guests can play for just $.25 per card (limit of 6 cards). We will be awarding $400 in cash prizes. Parents and other family members can also win door prizes. In addition, enjoy some free refreshments!
  • 7 p.m. — Movie (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) (KUB Hideaway)
  • 9 p.m. — Program Board presents Six Appeal (KUB Ballroom). A world-class vocal ensemble that combines musical prowess and sharp comedic timing with the energy and vitality of a rock band. The award-winning vocal band will take you on a journey that covers multiple decades and genres of music—performing classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes—completely a cappella. Despite their cheeky group name, the antics of these six young gentlemen provide a good natured atmosphere for their electrifying performance. A Six Appeal show will split your sides, feed your musical sweet tooth, and leave you wondering how in the world they pulled it off with just their voices. Free for students and family members.
  • 9:30 p.m. — Movie (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again)) (KUB Hideaway)

Saturday, Oct. 13

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — University Store Hours. Stop in during our extended Parents’ and Family Weekend hours. Look for special sale items!
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Quest Open High Adventure Day. Quest will open its rock wall and zip lines, FREE for B.U. students, $5 others. The course is located on upper campus, across from Nelson Field House. All are encouraged to participate (rock wall and zip lines are open to children age 8 and above). Bring your friends and family!
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Registration (Outside the Pre-Game Luncheon). Please let us know that you’re here. Receive an information packet that includes a final schedule, special mementos and other information about weekend activities. Enter the drawing for gift certificates to the University Store.
  • Noon to 2 p.m. — Parents’ and Family Weekend Pre-Game Pig Roast. Enjoy pregame fare including pig roast, smoked chicken legs and thighs, hot dogs, creamy coleslaw, potato salad, grilled vegetables skewers with pineapple, macaroni and cheese bar, assorted desserts and beverages. The Pig Roast will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on the softball field across from Redman Stadium and will include beer and wine for those over 21. Reservations are required for everyone (adults, B.U. students, and children). Space is limited so we suggest you make your reservations early. Pay only $14.99 for B.U. students and family members (children ages five and under only $5). Processing fees apply.
  • Noon to Midnight — Games Room in KUB open!
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. — Registration (Redman Stadium Table outside the Main Gate). If you haven’t registered by the time you get to the game, please stop by the registration table.
  • 2 p.m. — The B.U. Huskies will take on the East Stroudsburg Warriors at the 2018 Parents’ & Family Weekend Football Game at Redman Stadium. Sit back and relax at half time for a performance by the Huskies Marching Band and the Parents’ and Family Weekend Committee featuring the winning essay in our Parent(s) of the Day contest. Tickets can be purchased in advance for the game. Tailgate Zone spaces may also be purchased online. Processing fees apply. Gates will open 90 minutes prior to kick-off.
  • 3 p.m. — Movie—(Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) (KUB Hideaway)
  • 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. — Program Board Casino Night & Karaoke Bar (KUB Ballroom). BU students and family members receive $2500 in play money to enjoy some fun games including Blackjack, Texas Hold’em, Craps, Roulette, and Big Wheel. Use your winnings to enter the raffle for prizes. We will have a Karaoke Bar set up in the lobby of the Ballroom to enjoy some mocktails while singing your favorite song! Lanny Lee will be doing free balloon sculptures. Stay the whole night or stop by anytime and play.

Saturday Transportation: Campus buses will be running to upper campus from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday from the bus stop behind the library. There’s plenty of parking in the Andruss Library lot and the bus has a stop at the football stadium right across from the luncheon on the softball field.

 

Sunday, Oct. 14

  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Brunch (Scranton Commons Dining Rooms). No advance registration is needed. A charge of $10.75 per person will be collected at the door. There is no charge for B.U. students with meal credit on the meal plan. With no meal credit, the price for students with flex or cash is $9.10.
  • 11 a.m. — Parents’ & Family Worship Service (KUB Multi-A). Message by Rev. Dr. Brian Johnson, Communication Studies, free continental breakfast at 10:30 a.m. Sponsored by Protestant Campus Ministry and Impact.
  • 11 a.m. — Catholic Campus Ministry Sunday Mass (KUB Ballroom). A reception with light refreshments will follow Mass.
  • Noon to Midnight — Games Room in KUB open!
  • Noon to 4 p.m. — University Store Hours. Last chance for special sale items!
  • Noon — Movie (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) (KUB). Free for students and family members.
  • 2:30 p.m. — Music Department Fall Choral Festival (Carver Hall). Free and open to the public.
