Parents’ & Family Weekend Pre-Game Pig Roast on Sat., 9/16 is SOLD OUT!

Friday, Sept.15

7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. University Store Hours. Check out the sale items throughout the weekend 20% off clothing and insignia merchandise.

8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sit in on your child’s (or parent’s) classes. Please get the instructor’s permission in advance.

Noon to 4 p.m. Program Board presents Party on the Patio & Inflatable Games on the Quad. See how long you can stay on the Shark Attack (like Mechanical Bull). Race against someone on Criss Cross or Bungee Run. Enjoy popcorn, balloon sculptures, & glitter tattoos. It’s all free!

5 p.m. to 11 p.m. KUB Games Room at Luzerne Hall Open. Free billiards & gaming station for parents & family members. Refreshments & drawing for B.U. students and family members. Enter for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the University Store! Refreshments will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. You do not need to be present to win.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration (KUB Main Lobby). We like to know who’s here. Please stop by and pick up a final schedule and other items, and enter the drawing for University Store gift certificates! Students may register their parents if they wish. Football game tickets may also be purchased at registration. Free balloon sculptures by Lanny Lee.

7 p.m. . Kazual Acapella Concert Outside (Scranton Commons Amphitheatre/rain loc. KUB Ballroom)..

7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Movie—TBA (KUB Ballroom).

9 p.m. Program Board Presents Bingo (KUB Multi A & B). B.U. students and all of their guests can play for just $.25 per card (limit of 6 cards). We will be awarding $400 in cash prizes. Parents and other family members can also win door prizes. In addition, enjoy some free refreshments!

Saturday, Sept. 16

All Day Men’s Tennis BU Open on Upper Campus.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. University Store Hours. Stop in during our extended Parents’ and Family Weekend hours. Look for special sale items!

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Quest Open High Adventure Day. Quest will open its rock wall and zip lines FREE for B.U. students; $5 others.. The course is located on upper campus, across from Nelson Field House. All are encouraged to participate (rock wall and zip lines are open to children age 8 and above). Bring your friends and family!

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration (KUB Main Lobby). Please let us know that you’re here. Receive an information packet that includes a final schedule, special mementos and other information about weekend activities. Enter the drawing for gift certificates to the University Store. Football game tickets may also be purchased at registration.

11:30 a.m. Knoebels Bus Trip. (Bus departs from Hospital lot 11:30 a.m.; depart from Knoebels 4:30 .pm.). Bus is free for students & family members. Sign up in advance in the Student Activities Office beginning Monday, Aug. 28 or at Parents’ & Family Weekend registration to secure your seat. Buy discounted ride books in the Student Activities Office, 350 KUB; books are $4 for $5 worth of rides or pay one price at the park. Noon to 2 p.m. Parents’ & Family Weekend Pre-Game Pig Roast. Enjoy pregame fare including pig roast, smoked chicken legs and thighs, hot dogs, creamy coleslaw, potato salad, grilled vegetables skewers with pineapple, macaroni & cheese bar, assorted desserts and beverages. The Pig Roast will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on the softball field across from Redman Stadium and will include beer and wine for those over 21. Reservations are required for everyone (adults, B.U. students, & children). 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration (Redman Stadium Table outside the Main Gate). If you haven’t registered by the time you get to the game, please stop by the registration table.

2 p.m. The BU Huskies will take on the Gannon Golden Knights for the 2017 Parents’ & Family Weekend Football Game at Redman Stadium. Sit back and relax at half time for a performance by the Huskies Marching Band and the Parents’ & Family Weekend Committee featuring the winning essay in our Parent(s) of the Day contest. Tickets can be purchased in advance for the game by going to www.buhuskies.com, click on FAN ZONE, click on TICKET INFORMATION, scroll down until you see Parents’ Weekend information.  Tailgate Zone spaces may also be purchased online at www.buhuskies.com/tailgate. Processing fees apply.  Gates will open 90 minutes prior to kick-off. 

3 p.m. Movie—Wonder Woman (PG-13) (KUB Multi-A).

8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Program Board Casino Night & Karaoke Bar (KUB Ballroom). BU students and family members receive $2500 in play money to enjoy some fun games including Blackjack, Texas Hold’em, Craps, Roulette, and Big Wheel. Use your winnings to enter the raffle for prizes. We will have a Karaoke Bar set up in the lobby of the Ballroom to enjoy some mocktails while singing your favorite song! Lanny Lee will be doing free balloon sculptures. Stay the whole night or stop by anytime and play.

Sunday, Sept. 17

All Day Men’s Tennis B.U. Open on Upper Campus

10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Brunch (Scranton Commons Dining Rooms). No advance registration is needed. A charge of $10.45 per person will be collected at the door. There is no charge for BU students with meal credit on the meal plan. With no meal credit, the price for students with flex or cash is $8.90. 

10:30 a.m. Campus Church Visitation (KUB Multicultural Center). Free continental breakfast at 10:45 a.m., worship service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martin Harris Sr., F.O.C.U.S. Ministry, Bethel Deliverance International Church, Philadelphia, PA.

11 a.m. Catholic Campus Ministry Sunday Mass (KUB Ballroom). A family reception with light refreshments will follow Mass.

1:30 p.m.  “A Better High” with Matt Bellace, motivational speaker and comedian (Carver Hall)—This informative and humorous presentation is sponsored by Healthy Huskies and B.U. Athletics and made possible through a grant from the NCAA. For over 20 years, Matt Bellace has been traveling the country as a professional speaker and stand-up comedian. Dr. Bellace has a PhD in clinical neuropsychology (the study of the brain and behavior). He is the author of the book, “A Better High,” co-author of the National Geographic Kids Series, “This or That,” and was a regular on truTV’s, “World’s Dumbest.” Matt’s presentation will focus on natural highs and making healthy choices. Recreation: The Student Recreation Center will be open Friday until 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to10 p.m. Facilities include multipurpose courts, racquetball courts, indoor climbing wall, and fitness, weights and aerobics rooms. All equipment is available at the front desk. Family members are welcome to the use of the Rec Center free of charge when accompanied by their B.U. student relative with valid ID. Those under the age of 18 may not use the fitness or weight rooms and must be accompanied by an adult in the restroom/locker room area.

Parking: There is open parking in any legal parking space for the weekend beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, except for metered (unless you pay), handicap (without a state issue hangtag or plate) & reserved spaces.

Town Park: Our beautiful Town Park has picnic areas, a fitness trail, a disc golf course, and the Kidsburg play area. Anyone for tennis? There are courts located on BU’s campus and at the Town Park.

Knoebels Amusement Park: One of the best-kept secrets of the area, Knoebels is only 14 miles from Bloomsburg and is a great family park. Parking is free. From Bloomsburg, follow Route 487 south to the park. For more info. visit http://www.knoebels.com/.

Golf Anyone? There are a number of golf courses in the area, including Rolling Pines, Arnold’s, Knoebel’s Three Ponds, and The Links.
