Bloomsburg University to Honor Alumni

The Bloomsburg University Alumni Association will honor three individuals at its annual Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The event is from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Kehr Union Ballroom on campus. Cost is $20 per person and alumni can register at bloomu.edu/alumni-awards2019.

The individuals to be recognized this spring include Leeann M. Koch '10 / '17 Au.D. (Maroon and Gold Excellence Award), Kerri Donald Sears '92 (Distinguished Service Award), and Juli Miller '92 (William T. Derricott '66 Volunteer of the Year Award). Nominees were submitted for consideration by their peers and colleagues and then evaluated by a committee of the Alumni Board of Directors.

“The Annual Alumni Awards Dinner provides the Bloomsburg University Alumni Association with an opportunity to recognize some of our most accomplished and engaged alumni” explained Nathan Conroy ’06, director of alumni engagement. “We are excited to recognize three outstanding alumnae who have each made an impact through their service to Bloomsburg University while excelling in their respective careers and contributing to their communities.  We look forward to celebrating our 2019 award recipients and their families.”

Distinguished Service Award recognizes alumni who have excelled in at least one of the following areas: significant accomplishments in their profession, outstanding service to Bloomsburg University or the Alumni Association or both, contributions to humanity.

Maroon and Gold Excellence Award (Class Years 2004-2018) recognizes alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years and have met one or more criteria for the Distinguished Service Award and have demonstrated outstanding potential for further contributions.

The William T Derricott ’66 Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes alumni who volunteer their time and talent on behalf of the BU Alumni Association, supports the mission of Bloomsburg University, and exemplifies the esprit de corps of BU to those around them.

In addition to those mentioned above, the association will also honor alumni who have been designated with the Grimes Loyalty Recognition which acknowledges alumni for their participation with the University the past year, and student recipients of the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.

By providing events, programs and services for over 72,000 graduates, the Bloomsburg University Alumni Association fosters relationships that result in engaging alumni in the university's strategic priorities and philanthropic goals.
