BU to host Global Issues Series discussion

BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will host a panel discussion titled, “From Colonial Rule to Independence and Beyond: The African Experience,” as part of the Global Issues Series on Thursday, March 22, at 6 p.m. in the Kehr Union Building Ballroom.

The panel aims to promote a better understanding of African nations and to help the community recognize the mitigating causes of social-economic and political conditions. The panelists will explore the socio-economic impact of colonization on the continent and the struggle for independence. Panelists will also examine the efforts being made by the self-governing African nations to rid the continent of vestiges of colonization and the impediments that they are encountering. The discussion is free and open to the public.

The Office of Global and Multicultural Education and the Global Awareness Society International (GASI) are sponsoring the event.
