BU to host discussion on racism

BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Community Government Association (CGA) will hold a discussion on racism called “Beyond the Fountain” on Friday, Feb. 16, from 5-7 p.m. in the Kehr Union Building multi-purpose rooms A-B.

The discussion, organized by CGA president Joar Dahn, was born out of a phrase that minority students have shared with each other over the years about not venturing “beyond the fountain” in town.

Dahn has a specific objective in mind for organizing the event.

“It is my goal is to bring people of all colors together to discuss diversity and how we can all learn from each other,” said the BU junior. “I have reached out to various religious leaders in town as well as members of our local government. I’m am hoping for a large crowd so we can finally discuss a topic that needs to be discussed, racism.”

Those interested in attending can RSVP to cgapres@bloomu.edu, but registration is not required.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 9,600 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
