Department of Art and Art History

The Department of Art and Art History at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking to establish a pool of candidates for temporary teaching positions beginning in the fall 2017. Applicants with either studio art or art history backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Persons hired for these positions may be expected to teach introductory and/or upper-level courses in studio art or art history depending on the curricular needs at the time the opening occurs. Performance expectations will include documented evidence of effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities, continued scholarly growth, and service to the University and/or community.


M.A. in Studio Art, M.F.A. preferred or, Masters Degree in Art History, Ph.D. preferred. Successful teaching experience beyond the teaching assistant, exhibition record or evidence of scholarship, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations are preferred. Finalists must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process. Recommendation for hiring is needed from the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty.


Submit a cover letter addressing your qualifications for the position, teaching philosophy, resume, unofficial copy of most recent graduate transcript, contact information for three professional references (letters on request), artist’s statement (for Studio Art applicants only), 10 images of personal work and 10 images of student work (for Studio Art applicants only - images must be low-resolution, 72dpi, maximum of 1000 pixels in either dimension on CD/DVD readable for both Mac & PC) to:
