Why Bloomsburg?

BU's global education offers students an unique perspective in how contemporary people live and interact in an increasingly globalized world through a variety of programs, which include exchange programs and faculty-led study abroad programs.

Through these programs students are given the opportunity to reflect and share their own point of view and role within a global, interconnected society, as well as understand and discuss complex relationships of common social, ecological, political and economic issues.


Bloomsburg has a humid continental climate meaning that there are four seasons, with summer average high temperatures of 84°F and winters average low temperature of 19°F.

Here at Bloomsburg you will find many entertaining location to shop or grave a bite to eat; in addition Bloomsburg is located near many major cities and entertaining locations. Bus trips are available to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC through Susquehanna Trail Ways

Bloomsburg Fair – Annual local fair that started in 1855, held every September. Contains many exhibits from livestock to fine arts.
Knoebels Amusement Resort – Local family amusement park with over 50 rides and attractions. Open late April through September.

Shopping – There are several malls and shopping outlets located near Bloomsburg

Susquehanna Valley Mall- 30 minutes from Bloomsburg University
Wyoming Valley Mall – Located in Wilkes-Barre, this mall is 45 minutes from Bloomsburg University. There are additional stores in the Arena Hub Plaza.
Susquehanna Valley Mall- 1 hour from Bloomsburg University, contains 100 outlets store
King of Prussia – 2 hours from Bloomsburg University, King of Prussia Mall is the largest shopping mall on the East Coast.
