Dr. Smith is a researcher on risk management and application of derivative securities to generate safe-income. His research interest is retirement income portfolios risk reduction for successful retirement and public policy concerning government’s role in retirement. He holds his doctorate degree in Economics from SUNY at Binghamton (2003) with concentrations in Finance, Monetary Theory, and Labor. He received his Masters in Finance and Economics. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance at Mansfield University and will join the Department of Economics at BU in the Fall of 2014. He has taught a variety of classes ranging from Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macro/Microeconomics, International Trade, Intro-to-Finance, Managerial and Corporate Finance, Investment Theory, Risk Management and Insurance, Personal Finance, and Money and Banking. He will be offering courses in Public Finance at Bloomsburg University.
He enjoys riding dirt bikes when he has time and building high-performance engines for motorcycles and custom cars.
